Hey! I’m Bruhati, and I’m a creative storyteller through design.

Born in Auckland, New Zealand to a software programmer and an engineer, I grew up in a community where pursuing design wasn’t always understood or supported. But I’ve always been a creative soul: an artsy girl with her head in the clouds, passionate about painting, singing, poetry, and reading romance novels.

Choosing to study design at the University of Texas at Austin (hook 'em) was a bold move and a point of contention within my community. Yet, I knew it was the path I was meant to take. From my freshman year onward, I delved into various facets of design, seizing professional opportunities that shaped my identity as a designer and as a person.

My journey has been one of twists and turns, times of despair and confusion, followed by moments of growth and gratification. I’ve discovered my passion for Design Thinking and experience design, and am currently growing my skills in service design, design strategy, and research at my role as an Associate Innovation Designer at Southwest Airlines.

Throughout my journey, I’ve repurposed Confederate-Era pedestals on campus, designed equitable healthcare interactions, created community-centric spaces at UT, and championed Design Thinking at large companies. These experiences have fueled my drive to be a designer who makes a difference, striving to create aworld that works better for everyone.

Each day in the design world reaffirms that every decision and step I’ve taken was meant to lead me to this moment: the moment of satisfaction in knowing I’ve made a positive change.

Life is short, the world is wide, and I hope to make a difference with the time I have.
